History of PossessedThis is a featured page

The band formed out of the ashes of the San Francisco metal band Blizzard. Becerra's duties as vocalist and bassist began when the original singer, Barry Fisk, committed suicide.

They released their landmark debut album Seven Churches in 1985. The record combined thrash metal music and one of the first known death grunts, a staple of the death metal genre. Lengthy tours around the world followed the release, the most notable being a 1986 gig with Slayer and Venom at San Francisco's Kabuki.
After releasing a couple of lesser known albums, Possessed disbanded. Some time after their last release in 1989, Jeff Becerra was left paralyzed from the waist down in a shooting accident. Torrao brought back Possessed once again in 1993 with a new line-up featuring former members of Machine Head and Pro-Pain, and recorded two demos before dissolving the band for good.
